Most Deputies have equal qualifications as Police Officers and State Troopers. So why not make these qualified men Law Enforcement Officers? Let's face it Berks County is in trouble. Anyone read todays Newspaper and all the trouble they are having at one of our Schools. We can not tolerate these disruptive punks that go to this school. We need to increase the amount of police at this school, arrest these punk criminals that disrupt this school from the good kids who want to learn. We are allowing these kids to stone our Police Officers, beat our Police Officers, and injure our police officers. We have lost total control at this school. We need to go into this school and clean it out and show them that we will not tolerate this action. Why we haven't had more police officer on site is because we don't have enough to go around. I have been saying this for years. We need help in this town and we have the opportunity to use our fine men in the Sheriffs Department. Drugs are rampant thru out Berks County. I see where we are adding a drug enforcement team formed by John Adams and my hat is off to him for forming this. We have to keep moving forward and add to this by increasing his task force by also making the Sheriff's Departments as Law Enforcement Officers. We need to give John Adams all the tools necessary to combat this problem we have in Berks County. I called on Rep. Jim Cox to take this on along with Eric Weaknecht to ask our state to add in the constitution that our Deputy Sheriff's have the words "Law Enforcement Officer" added to there title. Let's untie there hands and give them the opportunity to help our community when they are called on. Berks County needs all the help they can get and the time is now. Let's get our Government in Harrisburg to have and emergency session to have them sign into law that all Sheriff's and Deputies become "Law Enforcement Officer's" if they have the current qualifications that most have now. At this time of crisis when times are not good, and if you think it's good turn on your TV and find out what the heck is going on in our Nation, look at peoples 401K getting smaller and smaller, ask the elderly how they are living? Then along comes Spring Township supervisors trying to push thru a K-9 Unit and a addition of some thing called Police Traffic, God only knows how many will be added here? Are they losing it? These birds are pushing up our taxes to add two new divisions to our police force. Here are the names of the Supervisors who keep raising our taxes; Chair: John Dallas III Vice chair: Alan S. Kreider Member: Patti J. Smith Member: Jay W. Vaughan Member: William J. Collins Jr. We all know it's of no need to go to the meetings at the township building only because they are set on passing this no matter what you think. I figure it this way that if they would have known any better and consider us tax payers they would of turned down this request for a K9 Unit and God knows whatever Police Traffic is all about. Hey Mr. John Dallas III quoting you from the Reading Eagle, you said you were easing my pain by increasing my taxes now instead of waiting for the future? Gee, thanks for caring you really made me feel so much better. Since it's the Christmas season why didn't you tax me another 27%, you supervisors are to kind. Can any one of you supervisor let us know what it is going to cost us anually to hire these policemen, dogs, training, maintaining, this K9 corp oh and lets not forget the Traffice Policemen what ever that is, but I know for sure it is going to cost the taxpayers lots of money. But quote; "the tax increase is needed to maintain the level of public services in the face of higher costs and stagnant real estate and so on and so forth. Hog wash, by not having the above you could use for general maintainence not on somebodies dynasty. One other thing your complaining about if fuel use. Why in gods name did you buy high performance police cars? So since the fuel is going down what are you going to be doing with the excess dollars you save? Oh yea I know buy more dogs, maybe a helicopter unit, oh and horses, ahhhhh, swat team, and what ever the heck is Traffic Policemen???? You supervisors should be ashamed for sneaking this thru at a time like this. Then again what do you care about the people living on fixed incomes?
